Welcome back!
Well after a long delay we finally got to see the final nine players of the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event duke it out at the felts. But now we finally have a winner, Peter Eastgate. He is now the youngest player ever to win the event after he broke Phil Hellmuth’s 19 year old record. Phil Hellmuth took first place when he was 24 back in 1989.
Peter Eastgate is 22 years old and is from Odense, Denmark he was sponsored by PokerStars and is now being managed by Poker Royalty. After he won Eastgate said in a post interview, “It’s an honor to hold the record as youngest World Series of Poker Main Event champion,” said Eastgate. “I played really solidly throughout this tournament and I’m proud of that. This gives a new level of credibility for young online players. Thanks to sites like PokerStars, we have become a force to face on the felt.”
This wasn’t his major event he has been playing poker around Europe and online. He finished in the top 30 at the PokerStars European Poker Tour Copenhagen event and last year he made the final table at the Irish Poker Open.
PokerStarts sent over 1,000 qualifiers to the WSOP Main Event this year and saw great results as 123 of the players from PokerStars cashed at the event. The total for all 123 players is a little over $9 million dollars and Peter Eastgate took home $9,152,416 dollars for his first place finish and of course some bling as he now has a World Series of Poker bracelet.
The Results for the November 9 are below:

Craig Marquis Finishes in 9th Place
Posted by geminiamp
Well Craig Marquis didn’t make it to first place but he did make it to the final table of the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event final table. He finished in ninth place after his pair of sevens lost against Scott Montgomery’s Ace Queen. Marquis did hit on the flop for his third seven but the number wasn’t lucky enough for him.
Because Montgomery hit running cards to make his ace high straight. So after about three hours of play he was out of the game but he did walk away from the table with $900,670 dollars. So he still got almost a million dollars and he has caught the attention of the poker world. So for now he will continue to play poker online at Full Tilt.
